Research shows men and women handle mistakes differently. The Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University conducted a study of 45 men and 45 women across multiple career fields to determine how men and women react to mistakes. Most men were able to get over their mistakes faster and found them difficult to recall later. Most women were likely to blame themselves, get emotional, and agonize over mistakes for a long time. Neither gender is “right” in their method. If we are able to learn from each other, women can spend less time blaming themselves and more time learning from the mistake. Men can objectively look at the problem and try to prevent future mistakes.
