How to End a Toxic Friendship

Though ending a friendship isn’t easy, some relationships can be mentally, emotionally, and even physically harmful if we allow them to continue. Thankfully, there are several key ways to assess friendships, set boundaries, and get out of toxic relationships. First, examine your reasons for ending the friendship. Unhealthy behaviors, emotional abuse, flakiness, unforgivable actions…these are just a few examples. Discover why you want out, and then make sure to communicate the reasons to your friend. They may not be aware that you have these feelings, and there may be a way to fix the relationship. Also, make sure your confrontation is constructive. It isn’t a good idea to confront someone just to criticize them.
