The world of dating and maintaining relationships has changed radically. Gone are the days of sending love letters via snail mail. Gone are the days of getting to know people slowly, over time and a number of dates. Today, with Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and LinkedIn we are in constant contact with our love interests. We can know more about someone in fifteen minutes on their Facebook page than in two months of dating. Because we are hooking up online, we are “hooking up” sooner. Technology is also putting more pressure on relationships. When that pressure causes difficulties, the breakups can also complicated by our continued technological connections.
