Jumping into a sexual relationship or cohabitating before getting married may be a prescription for disaster in relationships. A new study by Cornell University researcher Sharon Sassler and her team looked into relationship “tempo.” They conducted an online study of 600 couples who were married or living together where the female involved was under 45 years old. The study examined sexual satisfaction, relationship quality, conflict, and communication. After taking into consideration a number of variables, they compared the relationship quality of couples that waited less than a month, 1 to 6 months, and more than six months to have sex.
