The goal of collaborative therapy is to achieve moments of intimacy by having both partners confide feelings that will create a sense of intense connection. This happens when each partner confides the thing that is most on their mind and then feels like they are understood. This is not the only way to create feelings of intimacy, of course, and there are many things specific to couples that induce these feelings. It’s important to realize that people feel intimacy in different ways and, for some people, expressing their feelings is not one of those ways. It is possible still, however, to create an intimate moment in collaborative therapy even for those people.
