When we compare ourselves with others, we can choose to copy their positive qualities or be jealous of them. Negative comparison can lead to envy, jealousy, and lowered self-esteem. Avoid negative comparisons; instead, focus on your strengths, and if you must compare yourself to someone, choose a person from whom you can learn. Instead of allowing yourself to feel envy or jealousy, decide to acknowledge and copy their strengths in order to improve yourself. Make sure to wish your rival well. Showing humility and avoiding comparisons builds self-esteem and lets you focus on what you have rather than what you lack.
