In the case of infidelity, it is easy to give in to the desire to reconnect through physical intimacy, thereby postponing the reasons and consequences of the transgression.Abused persons can be further damaged by sexual activity, alternately connected and betrayed by the abuser, then left to deal with feelings of self-hatred. When marital communication breaks down, it’s also easy to use sex as an escape, delaying or denying critical issues. Sex should be part of a whole, satisfying relationship, empowering and nurturing both partners.
